Because I had a date with Insomnia! – Historical Romances That Got Me Through The Night.

There’s a reason why Insomnia has chosen to read me historical romances when I can’t sleep. He knows I love the simplicity of the genre. I don’t need to think about the rules of magic or the mistreatment of women and how it rubs my baby feminist self the wrong way. Because what happened happened and what was is forever in the past. With those thought in mind I’m able to engross myself in that era (whether it’s accurate or not) and let myself fall into the romance. I get sweet up by the regality of upper class England. I laugh at the rich Duke who can’t understand why the “lowly” maid wards off his advances. I subcumb to the dark allies and seedy london estbalishments where women can be free from their overbearing expectations.

I know I’m describing a form of escapism but hey nobody want’s to adult all the time. By the time I’m done reading it’s usually five am and Insomnia has left me to go spend his time with some other chick. I’m throughly exhausted and my emotions are rung dry because historical romances have that effect on me but I’m forever changed. While I don’t wish for Insomnia to return I set another book on the end table for when he does.

Authors Note: This was originally supposed to published two weeks ago since then many things have changed but that my friends is for another post.
