For the longest time, I strayed away from reading series. Either because I’m late to the party and the series is already six books deep. Or because I tend to lose interest fast. I don’t really like reading about one relationship throughout multiple books. I like drama and angst. There’s only so much one couple can give you. But now it seems that my reading wish list is getting longer and most of the books I want to read are from a series. I know you’re probably thinking there’s no way she’s going to read through a whole series just to prepare for one book. But I will. If nothing, I’m dedicated. I’ll get through these series eventually.
Shadow Hunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
I’ve never been inclined to read Cassandra Clare’s work. I know that it’s highly hyped. There’s been a movie and a CW show. I watched a few episodes but still wasn’t sold on the series. It wasn’t until I was walking through Walmart and came across the most beautiful book cover I’d ever seen. I’m talking about Chain of Gold. I brought the book. Now I’m determined to read the whole series just so I can justify the impulse buy.
Chronicles of One by Nora Roberts
I have a habit of buying anything Nora Roberts writes. She’s one of my favorite authors. I’ve never read anything from her I didn’t like. So I brought the first book of the series and haven’t touched it since. Of course, I want to read it. I just keep getting sidetracked.
The Poppy War Trilogy by R.F. Kuang
The Poppy War gives me Mulan vibes. Mulan is my favorite Disney movie. Also, I love anything with a badass woman in it. I know the series is beloved by almost everyone. I know I’m going to enjoy it. I’ve checked it out from my library six times every time I’ve told myself I’ll read it. Then I get intimidated by the size.
From Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’ve enjoyed so many of Jennifer’s novels that I when I saw this one I immediately wanted to read it. It’s sitting on my kindle just waiting for me.
Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
I don’t know how I came across the series. But one day I was reading Moon Called and fell in love. It was only after I realized that there was a reading order and I was reading it wrong. Now I’m invested and have no choice but to start from the beginning. I want to understand everything.
So there you have it. The series that I want to read most and why. Hopefully this year I make a dent in a few of them but, I’m not stressed about it. If it’s meant to be it will be. That’s the quote I’m living by this year. Are there any book series on your TBR that you still haven’t read yet?
