Synopsis: Blessed with the ability to change into a sleek, cruel panther, and driven by a dark soul he’s accepted as his fate, powerful Adrik Wilder abandons his family and his honor to pursue a life of wickedness. He excels at every vice, so he doesn’t think twice about kidnapping strong-willed Karen Sonnet to use for his selfish purposes.
But Karen’s spirit and passion make him question the force of his family’s curse, for she could be the key to their survival. And when a new evil emerges, Adrik must choose whether to enact revenge on his enemies and redeem his soul, or save Karen from a fate worse than death…
Remember when I said I was over my bad boy phase… I lied. Adrik turns me on in every possible way. Warlord took the dominant male role to an extreme. I’m sorry what is consensual sex because the line here is blurred. For the record clear consent is a must no matter how hot and steamy novels make it seem. If I’m being truthful this novel was messed up. If you have triggers I would suggest not to read this one. It sort of reminded me of Tarzan if it was rated R. The sex scenes were on point and the chemistry between Karen and Adrik oozes from the pages.
What I liked about this novel was that it did what the others did not. It spanned over years and I finally got to know and love the female protagonist. Do you think somebody told her when she was writing these stories that I need more of the female lead pre male lead?
I probably would have given up on this series by now if I wasn’t so invested in the big plot. I just have to know what happens with the Wilders as a whole. Into the Shadow is my favorite book so far within the series.
